Sorry about the confusion. Both bolsa and bolso can mean bag, but they both are a little different. I say that Sonia saying ’la bolsa’ was just a slip of the tongue and noone recognised the word switch during the recording due to the similarity of the words.More or less ’una bolsa’ is a plastic shopping bag. ’Un bolso’ is also a bag but usually a fabric and stitches kind. You can say ’un bolso’ for a women’s handbag, a school backpack, a soft laptop bag etc. Usually as long as it’s made of fabric and not hard (then you would be getting into maleta/maletín which is suitcase/briefcase) you can say bolso.Funnily enough, if you watch ’Lord or the Rings’ with Spanish subtitles, Frodo Baggins is named Frodo Bolsón in Spanish. Not sure if that helps, but it came to mind.I hope this all makes sense.
