I'm a bit confused as well. The word "carte" has been used in different ways.
La Carte = The Menu
Carte de Credit = Credit CARD
Carte = Map
????

Carte has various meanings: menu, card, geographical map are the main translations. It is a fem noun.
Menu = carte but it is a masc noun

Yes, lots of words have more than one meaning like in english: bad - it could mean "that is bad" as a negative thing or "dude that car is bad" like a cool thing

Un menu is mainly used to indicate a set menu. E.g. A three course meal for €20 would be un menu.
Une carte can be either, what in English is called, a menu or a map.
I imagine the images taken were from English menus. As un menu in French does not have the same meaning in English.
