No, usted no está haciendo viejo. ¿Dónde hay un banco? Try practicing hay un banco as one unit of sound.....hayunbanco....out loud over and over until you can say it as one, rhythmic unit of sound.
Listen to yourself saying Where is the bank in English. You don't say....Where, pause, is, pause, the, pause, bank. You say....Whereis thebank.
Why is practicing out loud important? If you can say it, you will be able to hear it in time. Here is a little phonetic exercise you may find useful. Write out 5 short phrases about what you are going to do or want to do or need to do today. Por ejemplo: Yo voy a comer un sandwich. Yo quiero leer un libro. Next, write them out without spaces between the words. yovoyacomerunsandwich. Practice, out loud, until you can say it as one unit of sound.
