Hola Phillipe, Could you provide some examples? Depending upon context, all the words that you listed could be translated to 'to turn'. If you are giving directions like turn right at the corner, use cruzar. Girar implies rotational turning. Doblar implies to fold or bend such as to go around. Atravesar means to cross such as She swam across the river. They crossed the street.

Philippe - I have the same question,My wife is from 2 hours North of Madrid (Bugos), and saying Cruzar for "to turn" in directions was foreign to her - and she is well-educated and teaches Spanish at a university. She felt it was a mistake or that possibly it was a carry over from South American Spanish - since the first Spanish course was for Latin American Spanish.
Cheryl - You've heard Spaniards use Cruzar this way? Who knows? Maybe it's said like this in the south, in Andalucia?? I would like to get to the bottom of it though.
