Hi James. I'm coming to the end of French 3 and have been watching with interest as you post questions on the Commons about lesson content in French 4 & 5. I've also noticed that many of your questions appear to be unanswered. I was wondering if you've contacted the Fluenz Lab with these questions. The Commons would seem like the perfect place to ask lesson questions so that one of the language experts from Fluenz could respond and the answer would then be available to the rest of us. With this in mind, I've posted questions to the Commons about lesson content in the past and found that they generally go unanswered, or get responded to by people not from Fluenz whose credentials are unclear to me. However, when I send my question to the Fluenz Lab, I usually get a reply within 48 hours. I'd like to see answers to the questions on the Commons, but if you're not getting answers, you might want to try the lab. Bonne chance!

A grill can be a flat cooking surface, like what a diner cook fries hamburgers on, or like a pancake griddle. In that sense a frying pan is like a grill.

Thanks Michael; I agree that I too am not clear on how the Commons is supposed to operate.
And thanks Pete, it is as I suspected.

Ultimately, we want the Commons to be a self-sustaining community. While myself and others from the Fluenz team will always be active in the forums, we do want/expect that the majority of questions and responses will come from other users. It's really the only sustainable way to do this.
Part of the problem right now is that we have not publicized the commons very widely yet. In fact, unless you are a fan of our Facebook page, you probably won't ever hear about the Commons. This situation exists partly because we wanted to let it go through a substantial beta period (more like alpha, actually) before releasing it to a wider audience. However, we're pretty happy with where the Commons is at right now (in regards to design & functionality). So while we still want to make some changes and add a bunch more features, we're actually in the process of moving forward with releasing it to all our users. This requires us to move it to a different Internet server, one more capable of handling large traffic. This server migration will hopefully be done within the next couple of weeks, at which point all new users will be directed to the Commons for registering their software right off the bat.
We also have plans to integrate parts of the Commons with both our desktop software and the online version that we're currently developing, as well as create some kind of incentive system for encouraging users to more actively answer questions.
We really appreciate those of you who are acting as early-adopters of this community, and we're now moving quickly to really increase the amount of activity on the site.
