Absolutely no substitute for conversing with a native Italian speaker
I realize that my subject line is a statement of the obvious, but here's an example nevertheless. Several months ago early in my Italian studies, I learned the grammatical contruction of "bisogno di". About 2 weeks later, I was about to conduct a meeting at work. The individual in the office who was the conference room coordinator is originally from Italy and knew that I was in the early stages of sudying Italian. Just prior to the meeting's start, she said to me, "Signore LoSardo, se ha bisogno di qualcosa, sono qui." From that moment on, that grammar structure was permanently branded in my mind. Studying Italian in a classroom environment and then following up with practical application is a powerful learning method.
