I think this might work. The work "weniger" means less and "wenig" means little. The word little it longer than the word less but the German word for little is shorter than the German word for less and so it's opposites. It's how I remember "Gibt es" and "Es gibt" because Gibt = is and is a longer word than Es which means There. Whatever works I guess. Sigh.

I just think of weniger as the comparative form of wenig...works for me!

Ja. I didn't think of it that way until lesson 18 when I learned: Größer, Schöner, Kleiner. Now Weniger makes total sense. Doh! Thanks too jzecnelson.
