This is why:
Not to split hairs. But being the Systems and Networking Engineer that I am and now working towards my Bachelors in Game Simulation Programming, I've spent nearly 25 years working with linux / unix based operating systems. It would behoove the team at Fluenz to be doubly aware that by offering for linux / unix based systems they open themselves to having software duplicated at will by the unscrupulous end user. By no means am I calling anyone here unscrupulous. But I can clone a linux box in nearly 10 minutes. If the software is successfully installed in a linux based operating system and cloned using VMware or VBox, yes, it could be replicated at will without concern of the copy protection. (EDIT/ADDED) Seriously you could "dd" or Clonezilla just as easily a raw image of the physical drive and or partitions, leaving a simple change to mac address of the NIC (Network Interface Card), taking only minutes to recreate the boot image by reinstalling grub or grub2. (Truly not the wise direction imho).
Why?
Because a virtual environment offers the end user the ability to mimic the NIC (Network Interface Card), they can replicate the hard disk UUID, there is no hardware mechanic that cannot be replicated in a virtual environment, there is also no way to lock down the copy protection in this environment.
I, again, cannot stress enough that I am by no means accusing anyone, but for the regulation of such a wonderful product it would be very intelligent if Fluenz did not enter into a market where they lost their ability to secure their product from replication. Seriously, it would be a revenue loss just waiting to happen.
My own humble opinion, but one based on nearly 25 years’ experience, that well exceeds that of even the highest level of technical staff.
I also would like to apologize for replying to an older post, but I have only started my journey with Fluenz Mandarin yesterday. I would truly hate to see the loss of revenue handicap Fluenz from producing further great programs.

UPDATE: By running rm ~/.wine the problem can be subverted. Unfortunately this will delete Wine's saved settings and set Fluenz back into "10 day limit to activate" mode. Have not been able to figure out any other solutions, so for now I just repeat this command and just manually go back to wherever I was before.
