Explanation for differences between German and Englist
I am using Fluenz German (1,2,3) and like the product quite well so far. As this is meant for people who already know english, one thing that will help is a little bit of explanation in the beginning about how German is different from English. For example, German is Synthetic vs. English is Analytic. I discovered this after the first lesson, followed up with some investigation and now find things to be easy. Fortunately, my mother tongue and more so the classical language, Sanskrit, is even more inflectional than German (so much so that it is almost completly free form) and also has the same concept of gender for objects like ear, nose, milk, tea, etc., plus compounding. So I just have to focus on vocabulary and pronounciation!
