"algo mas" translates to "something more" (más = more). So you'd use it to say that you want something beyond what you already have. "Otra coas" suggests that you want something in place of what you previously had -- you want something else instead.
Ultimately, I think it's a very subtle difference in both English and Spanish, and they're probably interchangeable to a degree in both languages.
