Congrats! That's amazing :D If you don't mind me asking, what pace are you going at. I'm doing Mandarin, but I'm trying to do like 2-3 lessons per week, while using the flashcards to help study everyday. What did you decide is a good pacing schedule?

Hi Eric and thanks! I'm almost positive that comparing German to Mandarin would be like apples to oranges (really scary oranges)and learning styles are definitely individual. German is challanging, but there are precise rules and to me that's like math. Learn the rule and you can work the problem. My goal was one lesson a day. Sometimes I can take in two and sometimes there are a couple of days between just one. I also use the Flashcards everyday and if at review time I find a problem area, then I'll go back to whichever lesson, update my notes, etc. I have NO DOUBT that I'd have to readjust that schedule if I were to tackle Mandarin - the most difficult language ever! Good luck to you and keep it up! :-)

This really helps -- plus I haven't been taking notes, and that's an extremely good idea!

I'm just a little behind you Shanna :) moving onto level 2 now. Looks like the lessons really start ramping up in this level :)

Oh yeah! My progress has been a tad slower on this level but it does come. ;-)

Hi Eric. This may not work for you but it has been working wonders for me. I'm doing one lesson every 2-3 days. But the "trick" to what I'm doing is that I reserve a couple hours before bed time to do the lesson. It is the LAST thing I do before getting ready for bed. As a result, my mind is still mulling things over as I fall asleep and continues to do so throughout the night. When I wake up in the morning, some of my first thoughts are about the new language.
At some point during the following day, I use the flash cards. Sometimes I'll just use the ones from the most recent lesson and sometimes I'll combine multiple lessons. As a general rule, I've found that the flash cards come really easily to me. "Sleeping on it" really did help me internalize what I've just studied.
I continue to do flash cards at least once per day until I'm ready for the next lesson. But I always make it a point to skip at least one day so I don't overwhelm myself and so that I can truly master each step.
