I have a Mac running Snow Leopard. I'm able to create the Spanish upside-down question mark (¿) on the Flashcards using the standard Mac key controls: hold down Shift and Option keys and tap the ? key. (I don't have Fluenz for Spanish to totally check it out, but my Fluenz for French--which says to use the semicolon plus the letter "c" to enter the French "c" with the cedilla mark (ç)--will also accept the standard Mac key controls of Option + c to create that same character. So perhaps the standard Mac alternative will work for you, too.)

Are you able to create the upside-down exclamation point using the standard ! + 1 shortcut?

I can create the upside-down exclamation point using Option + 1 (¡). If I create an exclamation point and then tap the 1, it returns only the verbatim !1.

I can also use Marilyn's key combination for the ¿. Another alternative is to switch your keyboard from US to Spanish and use Shift + =. That also returns the ¿. Personally, I find it easier to switch to the Spanish keyboard, but either one should work.

I am on Windows 7 and use Ctr+Alt+? to get the upside down question mark using US International

Thank you Marilyn. The "shift, option, ? key" work for the upside-down question mark. To address Eric's question, that same trick doesn't work for the ! mark. I'd prefer to keep the US English keyboard if possible, so if there is a "fix" for the upside down ! mark, please let me know. Thank you for the tip, Marilyn!

You're welcome. Funny, but I thought I could only select the French flashcards as I purchased the Fluenz French program and not the Spanish program. Anyway, these key combo's worked fine for me while running the Spanish flashcards on my iMac:
Upside-down exclamation point ( ¡ ) = Option key along with the key containing the ! and the 1
Upside-down question mark (¿) = Shift+Option keys along with the key containing the ? and /
