That's what it was like for me too but eventually you become more and more able to digest long dense sentences. I do every lesson a minimum of two times otherwise I find myself moving too fast and not retaining everything I need for later lessons. I've found it just takes lots of practice. I recommend using the flashcards on Fluenz Commons as well. They're a great supplement and provide much needed extra practice. The podcasts are helpful too though not as valuable as the flashcards.

jw, Thanks. I usually do a difficult lesson at least twice coupling it with the use of the Flashcards in most of the variations (Old School, Writing etc.) Lesson 7 for some reason has my feet anchored in cement. lol. I just went over the full lesson again. Still having difficulty but will go over flashcards later on. Need to post some grammar questions now. Ciao.

You have to understand that learning the lexicon involves leaning complete, individual words, yet learning to hear and speak involves learning to connect a stream of syllables, some of which are absorbed by a following sound. "Dove è la toilette?" becomes "Dov' è la toilette?" Don't give up. You can do it.
