Hi James! The gerund for two syllable verbs that have an "e" as their first vowel and which end in -IR, take that form in the gerund. Here are some examples:
Vestir -- Vistiendo
Pedir (to ask) -- Pidiendo
Mentir (to lie) --- Mintiendo
Medir (to measure) -- Midiendo
Decir (to say) -- Diciendo
Hope this helps!
