Ciao Sedano! This is confusing because the conjugated verb is "Potere" (To be able to) and not "Avere" to have. Just to make it clear, you can see it in the following examples:
Io posso avere un'insalata
Tu puoi avere un'insalata (You can)
Lui/Lei può avere un'insalata (He/She can)
Noi possiamo avere un'insalata... (We can)...
So, with verbs "potere" and "dovere" (must do) the following verb stays the same. More examples:
Io devo comprare una casa (I must buy a house)
Tu devi comprare una casa (You must buy a house)
Lui/Lei deve comprare una casa (He/she must buy a house)
Io posso entrare (I can go in)
Tu puoi entrare (You can go in)
It would be different if you just had the verb "Avere"
Io ho un'insalata (I have a salad)
Tu hai un'inslata (You have)
Lui/Lei ha un'insalata (He/She has)
Noi abbiamo un'insalata (We have)
Voi avete un'insalata (You(p) have)
Loro hanno un'insalata (They have)
In this case the verb is conjugated. So the rule is, for double verbs, the first one conjugates and the second one stays in infinitive form. For single verbs, they always conjugate.
Hope this helps! Keep up the good work!
