Hi Bella
From what i have learned so far the use of Lo is when the following word begins with Z (i.e zucchero) or beginning with S+ consonant (i.e stesso) It looks like there may be more later on like foreign words incorporated into the language beginning with 2 consonants but for the level i'm at (Italian 2 session 5) the Z and S + consonant have been the ones to focus on.
