I asked Sonia on this one and here is her response
"The slight e at the end is personal variation.
But there is a slight variation in tonality depending on which tone the third tone is next to. It can sometimes sound a bit more like a rising tone. We touch upon this in later levels. It causes too much friction at first and it is best to really have command on the basics before moving ahead."
