I am not sure that I agree with some of the comments in the posts below on alternative learning web sites like babbel.com or slownewsinfrench or the many YouTube stuff. Many of these also try to teach you French using other aproaches and it can be confusing. I think that you should stick to one learning style and approach. I think that Fluenz is really great. If the issue is comprehension, and that is the case for me, then other solutions are available. My problem is that I cannot comprehend real spoken French. My mind thinks in English and I am constantly struggling to translate to French as I try to listen or speak. I think Sonia's blog gves some good advice. For my part, I Google "Live streaming French" and get a selection of dozens of free French radio streams. I just play it all day in the background as I get on with other stuff. I cannot understand 99.9% of what is being said. But my ear gets tuned to French and I pick up a word or two here and there. When I have the time I may watch French movies with sub-titles. Mostly I do not have the time. In the long run you really need to be in a French speaking environment for a long time and be constantly challenged in French. That is not possible for me.
