Hi Thi: When the auxillary verb is etre, as is the case for aller and most verbs implying movement, and all reflexive verbs, the participle must agree in gender and number with the subject. That is not the case for verbs that use avoir as the auxillary (although, as you may see later, there are times when the ending changes on these participles as well).

Doesn't make much sense why the french language does that... but thanks so much James for clearing it up!
