Not sure what your first question means. I would guess there is no reflexive form of "comer" for example. But it does seem to be the case that a lot of verbs are reflexive in French when they wouldn't be in English. And sometimes there is a reflexive and non-reflexive version with different meanings. As to your second question, I think at different points in the French series, both of these structures are taught. I think both are acceptable, only a native speaker could tell you which is more common in specific cases.
