You are not going to speak with a perfect accent from fleunz no matter what type you speak, so you will obviously be identified as non-native speaker no matter what you choose.
You will also be understood with either one. If you choose latinamerican, you are choosing the form of Spanish that is most spoken in the world, if you choose Spain, you will be speaking, what some claim to be more "pure". You would be surprised at the diverse dialects of spanish that exist in latinamerica, and even more surprised at the number that exist in spain.
I have traveled to both Spain and lived in Latinamerica. You will easily understand and be understood with both. Plenty of Latin-Americans travel to spain. Visa-versa. So it really boils down to personal preference.
I realize this is a non-answer but the answer is, it doesn't matter. But with the proliferation of latin-american media, my opinion, go latin american.
