When you refer to an object in color, the masculine form is always used. That's why nero is used instead of nera( the feminine form of black). Just remember: IN + (MASCULINE COLOR) :)
Some examples:
Ho una borsa nera (I have a black bag)
Questa borsa c'e IN NERO? (This bag, is there one in black?)

In this instance "nero" is used as a noun, not an adjective. If you asked the question in this manner "C'e`una borsa nera" the word would be used as an adjective, but since to color black "nero" is a masculine noun and you are asking whether there is a bag in the color black, the flashcard is correct.
