I believe I have seen that before! I'm noticing that even if I don't understand a lot of what is being said, I am recognizing words or grammar structure... it is a sign your comprehension is improving. I tend to understand italian film more than italian tv because tv is just too fast at times; especially the talk shows I watch. Keep at it!!!

One thing I did realize is that the translation is rarely verbatim, so there is a disconnect between what I hear and what the subtitles say. Most of the time its close enough, but sometimes there will be a longer spoken sentence and the subtitle is "yes". That makes me laugh. And it also tells me my comprehension IS improving, since I can figure that out. I still depend on the subtitles, but hopefully some day...in the future...eventually...I won't.
I haven't seen much of the italian tv, though what little I have seen has been very fast indeed. One thing I liked about this movie was that it was reasonably slow paced and the actors spoke clearly.
How much of the films do you feel like you are understanding? I agree with you, I get lots of individual words and phrases, but putting it all together still takes too long for my brain.
