I know someone in the commons here talked about a school in Tuscany, but I wasn't able to find the post. This is a recent thread on Trip Advisor about language schools in Italy, but I'm sure there are more threads if you want to search by specific location:

Thanks. I have been reading the posts on trip advisor. They seem useful . I was really wondering if anyone on fluenz had a school they especially liked. I do know of the man who studied on Monte...something in Tuscany, and that school is supposed to be very good. I was looking for something a bit further north, actually. Thanks!

Gerry LoSardo was the person in the commons who talked about a language school in Tuscany. He went Il Sasso on Montepulciano, easily found via Google. He spoke highly of it.

Gerry LoSardo here...Just another plug for the Il Sasso School in Montepulciano. Just how far north did you have in mind?

Lingua Si in Orvieto (Umbria) is great! They have numerous programs that fit anyone's needs. Orvieto is also one of the most beautiful hill towns in "the green heart of Italy". The school will find you lodging too; we stayed at a wonderful B&B. The owner took us on a long walk around the city and gave us a wonderful historical and personal perspective. The locals are kind (despite the town being something of a tourist attraction with the famous Duomo) and we made several friends among the merchants in our little corner of the city. Can't say enough about the experience! Orvieto is about half way between Florence & Rome on a main train line, very easy to get to. jh
