Not an expert here but I think of the term "correspondance" with trains or metro stations (called correspondane) where you may board another line in a different direction. I thought " escale" was an airport term and you stopped over and maybe change planes. N'est-ce pas?

In travelling terms, a 'correspondance' is when you need to make any type of transfer. For example, you might have to switch planes to get to your final destination. In this case, you would have a different flight number for your 'correspondance'. An 'escale' is a full stop and the reasons could be for picking up new passengers, passengers getting off or refuelling for example. Typically, if you have an 'escale' on a flight, you do not switch planes. I hope this helps!
