The way I see it, the various verb conjugations only exist for the pronoun they are associated with. Saying “vado” can only mean “I go”, ergo, the pronoun is superfluous. It’s not wrong to say “Io vado”, and you may do so to confirm the meaning of your statement, but it is not necessary. Vado, andiamo, andate and vanno all indiacte who is talking, or being talked about. The only exception is “va” which requires a pronoun for clarification (either lei or lui)--- unless some other word in the sentence identifies who the subject is. For example, Lui vuole mangiare e va al ristorante. “Va” does not need a pronoun in this sentence because we already know ‘Lui’ wants to eat.
