I can only speak to my experiences with French, but it's not easy. I live in Anglophone Canada, but at least there are Francophones I can try to chat with, and national stuff is always bilingual. Some days are easier than others in terms of getting some studying done, especially up here in the winter when the weather is more pleasant and amenable to outdoor activities.

I'll take off studying for a few days then trudge through a few more lessons. After awhile the desire to learn comes back.
How do you stay so busy? I lived in a small town (decades ago) of about 800 and I never had enough to keep me occupied.

This radio station was posted a while back, and it's helpful. Songs are in English but the DJ's speak German and the commercials repeat. http://www.swr3.de/startpage/-/id=473...
If you have Netflix or Amazon (or the like) you can find several movies in German that will help train your ear. Best of luck!

Thanks everybody for the tips. Tom, you are probably right, I end up having time, I just lose my drive to go and do it.
