Is there a space before question marks, exclamation points, etc.?
I've read elsewhere that in French, you're supposed to include a space before question marks, exclamation points, colons, and semi-colons. I'm about half-way through Level 1, and I haven't noticed a space between the last word of a sentence and the question mark. Why is this?
Are both forms correct? Is it that one way is common with formal publications, but most people don't insert a space in more informal writing? Does it vary by country? (I'm interested in learning the correct form for standard/Parisian French.) Clarification on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
On another note, I love your program and can't wait to work my way through all 5 levels! I've already learned more French than I learned in three years of high school French and a lifetime spent around a native French-speaking parent! Any chance there are more French levels in the works? How about a supplemental program focused on Business French?
