I use the Flashcards a lot to practice towards fluency. When I'm in my study routine, I will do a lesson of Fluenz in the evening after work and the next morning I will do the flashcards for the last few sessions. I'm still struggling with full speed German, but I have made significant improvement over the last year.

Hi Hondo... Congrats on starting out your German journey :) Know that it is absolutely natural that you don't automatically come up with all phrases. You are correct, it's a matter of practice, tons of it! For me what works great is physically writing things down. I grab a new structure that I learned, and I sit and come up with as many sentences as I can, simple ones, complicated ones. That really helps cement the structures for me. Try it out!

I text message with German student that stayed with us for several weeks. She gets to practice / use English and I get to practice German. Though we've learned that it's best if I send her both German and English versions. There have been several times when I've tried some new words and she replies back saying she had no idea what I was saying. :) I've been using the flash cards more and I have to listen to phrases at times several to many times.

Download the App "HelloTalk" on iPhone. You put in your native language and then select the language you're learning and what level you are at. So, for instance, I am learning Italian. So, my profile states that I am Fluent in English and at an Intermediate level of Italian. The app then pairs me with native Italian speakers who are trying to learn English. It is a great way to meet new people and share learning experiences and help each other out. I've met so many people who are excited to help me with learning and answer all of my questions. I've used the app for a couple of months now and two of the people I've met so far are people I communicate with on a daily basis and have developed a genuine friendship with. It is a great supplement to Fluenz.
