Not an answer, but rather a question. What do you believe your level of communication is now that you have completed Fluenz? If you were to be lost in a spanish speaking country, how well would you function there? I'm halfway through Fluenz French 1 and am just curious what to expect upon completing all Fluenz French 5.

For reading resources, Difusión publishing and Santillana each put out some great graded readers that are geared towards adults. Astiberri puts out some great graphic novels in Spanish. I can recommend several works by Paco Roca…Arrugas, El Invierno del Dibujante. Difusión also has one graphic novel…Gael y la Red de Mentiras…designed for A2 level readers.

You can get most of this via Amazon or online Euro book stores.
However, I don't think there is a single answer to your overall question……my recommendation is experience Spanish in every which way…read, study grammar, watch a Spanish movie until you can quote it, hire a tutor for conversation, watch Spanish TV, take a trip to one of our southern neighbors, join a meet-up group, converse via Skype…buena suerte

Great idea here, it is what I did!!! One of that things I did was move to Mexico, now I know that might not be realistic for you. But the other thing I did that has helped me dramatically and still does everyday, if you're single, find a spanish speaking counterpart that speaks horrible english or start going to Latin nightclubs. I have a Spanish speaking spouse and we talk in spanish all day and all night, and when I say something wrong, I am corrected. This is just what I did.... And i'm still on Level 4 Lesson 24. Goodluck

I work with spanish speaking clients all day but they don't correct me, after level 5 burnett your are able to carry basic conversations far from fluency but at that point you would be considered intermediate I have been doing language exchanges with other people from spain, columbia, mexico and chile that helps the most because we help each other with each others language and we correct each other, have many language partners so you can get to know new cultures and always have someone to practice with.

I went to paltalk and as of now I can't find a Spanish speaking room. I heard they had one. I see Chinese. Maybe you will have better luck searching those community language sites than me.

If you're actually done with everything with Fluenz and you still want to study Spanish I would recommend Pimsleur. That's what I'm doing now. I using Pimsleur and Fluenz to actually be fluent in Spanish L.A.
