You might try giving a listen to "Destinos" - a 53 episode telenovela-type approach to learning Spanish. It was produced in the 1990s by California Public Broadcasting, and can be found by Googling Destinos. It is free to watch all the episodes, and there are even some online exercises which can be done. I also found a used copy of the Textbook online thru Amazon for 5-6 bucks, which was very interesting for the cultural material presented, as the story takes you from Mexico to Spain to Argentina, to Puerto Rico, and then back to Mexico. It is a great story, well produced and acted, with spanish that is very clearly spoken and very understandable. From episode one, it assumes that you know some spanish. I am probably an advanced beginner or early intermediate learner, and I had no trouble following the lessons. It even has a closed-captioning option which allows you to see the subtitles in Spanish. Give it a shot, and I think you'll be hooked!
