From what I learned Yo estuve en casa de Sandra is grammatically better, but "en la casa" is heard here and there. It took me a while to not say "en la casa" but now it's natural. Note that there is also a difference between "yo voy en casa" and "yo voy en la casa". It's the same in english: "I'm going home" (your home). "I'm going to the home" (some home). Hope this helps :)
