I am currently studying for the French DELF A1 exam, it is part of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. They have various levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. A1 is the beginning test. These are officially recognized and something you could most certainly put on a resume if you pass them. The exams for Spanish are the DELE exams which you may read about here http://diplomas.cervantes.es/en/infor...

Mike, thank you for this. That is extremely useful. On Friday I ordered a few resources off of Amazon.com to help me prepare for the DELE A1 exam in Spanish, which I hope to take in November (A1 is not available in July). Has anyone been down this path before me? How well did Fluenz Spanish 1-5 prepare you for DELE? What were the deficiencies that you'd suggest I address? Thanks in advance for your time.

Ayden, that's excellent and I wish you the best of success. If the resources you ordered are anything like the one I got for French, they should do a good job of preparing you for the things you'll need to know. The two most challenging things for me are my listening comprehensions and expanding my vocabulary. Some times I feel like I need to memorize the French dictionary lol I'm exaggerating of course. My study guides are 100% in French and if the Spanish ones are the same way, you'll get a good feel for the extended vocabulary you need to know.

How do you access the actual tests?? I've been to the site before but never saw how you take the tests themselves...

You have to pay for the tests, it's a formal procedure, i think here in the US you can do the A1-A2 tests for $60 or $80. You can see sample tests for A2 there: http://diplomas.cervantes.es/en/gener...
