Technically, I think your sentence is grammatically slightly incorrect in that mi and llaves are not in agreement. It should be "mis llaves". As to the Flashcard translation, to me it just sounds better. Grammatically, if you diagrammed the sentence..... the keys are the object of the question. Then we clarify what sort of keys (car keys, as opposed to house keys); then we further clarify the possession ( ie. my car, as opposed to my wife's car ). Hopefully someone can explain the grammar better, but I think there is a logic to the order of KEYS-----CAR----MY.

Yes, you're right about "mis llaves." Correction made above, thanks. Still don't see why "the keys of my car" is better than "my keys of the car" or "my keys of my car" when I seek the deeper meaning of "my car keys". To me, the stress is on the fact the keys are mine.

If I were talking about my keys to my wife's car, I'd still call them "my car keys".
