"Voy a" usage with infinitives
I find it so very confusing that when you say, for example from the practice, "I'm going to go to the office and eat with Sandra," you say, "Voy a ir a la oficina y a comer con Sandra." The "a" means "to," yet the infinitives have an understood "to" in them-- such as "ir" meaning "to go" and comer meaning "to eat." Aren't you essentially saying in that translation, "I'm going to to go....and to to eat with..."? It just really trips me up when I'm doing the practices, and I am wondering if this is just one of those things you have to accept and move on, or if there is a Spanish grammatical explanation for it. Thank you for any responses. :)
