Hi Gaby
Wow, how great that you get to practise your German in Germany. So, how can we solve the confusion. In the program we introduce "to finish" as "erledigen" so that's when you are in the process of finishing something. But when you "are finished" or "ready" it would be "fertig sein". So if you wanted to say: "I've finished" (or "I'm ready") it would be "Ich bin fertig" but when you are in the process of finishing something, for example a project it would be "ein Projekt erledigen". I hope this solves your confusion und bis bald!
