In Spanish it is "agua fría", for example el agua está fría, este agua está fría, I am Spaniard and never thought about it, apparently agua is feminine but I have checked and the article for a feminine word starting with an "a" is "el", but the word is feminine. About comprarle or comprarla don´t worry too much, not even Spanish people use it correctly, in this case I think it should be comprarle, with the "la" in the end is a vulgarismo.
