I'm not sure if it exists for German, but I am studying Spanish and find wordreference.com to be an invaluable resource.

yes, because they translate the phrase you want as it is said in english and not as it is said in the actual language you want to hear it said.... other languages do not literally translate things we commonly say in english... its tough to find an actual translator that will transform the phrase into the other language's actual version rather than word for word... please let me know if you find anything useful, I will also ck out wordreference.com to see if it helps with french. au revoir

I like linguee, because it shows the translation in context. For example, the use of "rater le train", which can mean many different things in French, depending of the context: http://www.linguee.com/english-french...
