Chris, not to be evasive, but it's going to be different for each person ... and it depends on (1) one's language-learning aptitude, (2) one's level of patience, and (3) the available time to spend on the lessons..
(1) Some people have a great ability to grasp foreign languages and are able to move through each lesson after only one viewing. Other people may need to revisit a lesson. Also, some lessons are harder than others, so you may be comfortable going through lesson 6 only once, but may feel a need to go through lesson 7 three times.
(2) I'm aware the some people just get antsy to move through the lessons, and feel they've grasped enough of the concept after only one viewing.
(3) If you've only got a month before your trip to Barcelona, simple math would tell you that you can't spend a week on each lesson and hope to get through two discs. That was my situation. I blazed through two discs, supplementing my learning and retention with the flashcards.
Your mileage may vary.
Having said all this, I wouldn't use anyone else's experience as a measuring stick for my own ability to learn a language. The fact that I got through two discs in a month should be irrelevant, and I wish I'd spend longer with each lesson.
