Are you using the tilde over the a in Não? This is required even with the challenge mode off, since it's not an accent, but an actual letter of the alphabet.
Please feel free to call us since it would be much easier to troubleshoot over the phone. Our number is 1-877-358-3695. We'll be happy to help you.

However, the book that came with my software doesn't even mention Portuguese characters. I really think there should be a list of "special characters" Fluenz considers letters instead of accents so users will know what they need to type if not in challenge mode. Most resources I've consulted don't call ã a letter of the alphabet. They mention that the tilde ~, or til as it is known in Portuguese, is a diacritical mark placed over the vowel to indicate nasalization, in other words nasal diphthongs that are expressed orthographically. But in any event, at least you now know that ã has to be typed even if the challenge mode is off.
