Hello,
In the sentence "I want to go to Berger Street" the software probably translates this as "Ich möchte zur Bergerstraße fahren/gehen." Zur, as you correctly understand, is a contraction of "zu der" which means "to the." This is the correct translation of the English sentence.
In English you do not have to say the word "the" in the sentence "I want to go to (the) Berger Street." In German however, you do say "the" in the sentence when referring to a street name. ""Ich möchte zur Bergerstraße fahren." And you would use zur (not zum) because Straße is a feminine noun. Die Straße: which would change to Der Straße after the word "zu". So use the contraction zur Straße.
Hope this helps!
