Wacken Open Air Festival
Hi Fluenz users,
This is a rather serious sort of question about traveling that requires a truthful answer...
My husband has on his bucket list to one day go to the Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival in Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein (Northern Germany). We'd both love to visit Germany (he is German & Scottish descent and I'm African American---grandmother was biracial and grew up in Berlin but left in 1944). I wanted to get a feel for how I would be accepted as an African American in a more rural area so I know what to expect? From my understanding, in general I might get some curiosity stares (which I can certainly handle). Urban areas I'm told are not really a problem. I don't want to make any assumptions as you know how that saying goes about assumptions, you make an ass out of you and me. I hate to be concerned over nothing. I once had friends visit from Sweden and I took them to New York city and they refused to go anywhere near Harlem based on what they saw on television. I hate to be that way but I do want a realistic understanding of what I might encounter.
