Prononciation depends on the country where Spanish is spoken. You'll see in this example http://forvo.com/word/ellas/#es that in spain they tend to sound like "elias". I've been to Argentina and the "ll" is often pronounced "sh". Pollo (chicken) sounds like "posho". Listen to all the different pronounciations of pollo there: http://forvo.com/word/pollo/#es you'll hear "polio", "poyo", "posho", and even within the same country you'll hear differences.
Sonia's pronounciation is very clear and mostly generic Latin American accent. She does pronounce "yo" as "jho" and this is how I hear it in most Latin America. Same with "Ella" sounding like "Ejya". Whether you pronounce it "eya" or "ejya" you will be understood. Use the forvo website for examples if you're not sure.
