Which TH sound? The one in "thought"? Or the one in "this"?
I've always found that the easiest way to nail the Spanish D sound is to pronounce it as "DTH", with the soft TH you'd hear in the word "though".
It's difficult to describe a sound in writing, but that's the closest approximation I can come up with. If you say it as described above, you will be understood.

The 'th' in 'the' is pretty close. That's what I do.

Instead of putting your tongue behind your teeth, like when pronouncing a hard "D", place it between your top and bottom teeth. The result is the "DTH" Dennis is speaking of.
