The i is for informal or familiar. When there is no (i) it's automatically formal

Yes, I know that....my points were 1) there is an 'i' after "friend", which makes no sense...it should be an 'f' to indicate friend is feminine here; 2) the translation Fluenz gives shows the familiar, but there is NO 'i' in the English sentence....as you say, no 'i' means formal, but that's not the translation given.
