Remember that the subject of gustar is the object you like. So in the present you say "Me gustan estos pantalones", which in the past gives "Me gustaban estos pantalones". Gustábamos in the imperfect would be the equivalent to using gustamos in the present, and that would be incorrect in that sentence (you don't say "me gustamos estos pantalones").

There is a whole list of verbs that require the indirect object pronoun: Gustar, parecer , etc. Me gusta el coche "the car is pleasing to me" Me parece muy listo, "he seems very smart to me" It is very important to learn these verbs and how to use them.
