Throughout high school I was essentially just lazy, and then when I hit college, my teacher dove into coursework that was far too advanced for anyone in my class to grasp (half the students dropped out, and the other half got a complimentary B as the school resolved to terminate said teacher the following year). The learning of Spanish has become a kind of symbol of unattainable knowledge acquisition, a kind of intellectual Achilles heel.
With Fluenz, for the first time in my life, I feel like I can overcome this self-imposed limitation. For the first time, I feel like I'm learning the language in a logical way. A way that does not lay out a grid of vocabulary and conjugations around figuring out where the library is, but rather establishes foundations on a practical level. Because Fluenz sets me up with a set of semantic and grammatical structures that are actually useful and applicable in the real world, I'm fueled with the motivation to fill in the gaps and evolve past basic understandings.
The fact that I feel confident in an airport, restaurant and cab at the very beginning of my journey fuels my motivation to continue that journey into deeper realms of communication. It's incredibly exciting, and I'm overwhelmingly grateful.
I'm not sure how these forums work in terms of interaction, etc. This is just my first post. But I am a little over halfway through the first program and I intend to complete all five. I will continue to report back on these forums with my progress and perspective. In the meantime, I just want to express my gratitude for the flawless experience I have enjoyed thus far.
