You have to be sensitive to idiomatic usages in different languages. For example, In Spanish (as well as Italian and British English, one doesn't "make" a decision, rather one "takes" a decision. Like Spanish, Italian also uses the verb "to make" to express "ago." For idioms it is useless to try to explore WHY something is expressed in such a way, one just has to accept it as part of the language.
