Hi Sproquita, we don't use an article in this sentence because we are referring to sweet food in general. We'd only use the article if referring to specific food, as in "No quiero comer la comida dulce que preparaste esta mañana" (I don't want to eat the sweet food that you prepared this morning). And we always use the article when "comida" is the subject of the phrase, as in "La comida dulce está allá".
