Hi Cuencababe, "esperar" means "to wait" and also "to wait for". So you'd say "Voy a esperar aquí = I'm going to wait here" or "Voy a esperar un taxi = I'm going to wait for a taxi" (no "for" in Spanish). When applied to people, the structure is "Esperar a": "Esperar A mi hermana = To wait for my sister". This "a" is ther so-called "personal a" and there are more verbs that always require it when applied to people. For example, you'd say "buscar un hotel = to look for a hotel", but "buscar A Ana = to look for Ana". "Esperar" and "Esperar a" are explained in level 2, and the use of the personal "a" is covered later in the program. Hope this is clearer!
